Commitment to accessibility

Zoë Ann May, trading as Zoë May Consulting & Creative, is committed to making this website accessible and usable by as many people as reasonably possible.

I aim to provide an inclusive website experience for people with different access needs, including people with visual, hearing, physical, cognitive and neurological disabilities.

Web accessibility means designing and maintaining websites so that people can perceive, understand, navigate and interact with them using different devices and assistive technologies. 

Using this website

I aim to make it possible for visitors to:

  • enlarge or reduce text using their browser settings;

  • navigate the website using a keyboard;

  • use screen-reading and speech-recognition software;

  • understand links, buttons, headings and form labels;

  • access the website on desktop, tablet and mobile devices;

  • read content presented with appropriate colour contrast;

  • contact me in an alternative way if the website or contact form is difficult to use.

Accessibility standard

I aim to follow the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, commonly known as WCAG, when designing and maintaining the website.

My current aim is to work towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA where reasonably practicable.

 

This statement does not claim that the website has been independently audited or formally certified as fully compliant.

Measures taken to support accessibility

Steps taken or planned include:

  • using clear page titles and heading structures;

  • writing content in plain and understandable language;

  • using readable font sizes;

  • maintaining suitable contrast between text and backgrounds;

  • adding alternative text to meaningful images;

  • avoiding the use of colour alone to communicate meaning;

  • giving links and buttons descriptive names;

  • labelling contact-form fields clearly;

  • checking keyboard navigation;

  • checking the website in Wix’s desktop and mobile views;

  • avoiding unnecessary animation or flashing content;

  • reviewing accessibility when pages or features are added.

Known limitations

Despite efforts to make the website accessible, some parts may not yet meet every accessibility requirement.

Possible limitations may include:

  • some third-party content or tools provided through Wix;

  • LinkedIn or other external websites linked from this site;

  • older documents or downloadable files;

  • layout or display issues at very high levels of browser zoom;

  • limitations in embedded content, forms or third-party applications;

  • content that has not yet been tested with every assistive technology or browser combination.

 

I will review and address identified accessibility issues where reasonably practicable.​

Downloadable documents

Where documents are made available for download, I aim to use accessible formats and clear document structures.

If you experience difficulty using a document, contact me and I will consider providing the information in another reasonable format, such as:

  • an accessible Word document;

  • a simplified-text version;

  • a larger-print version; or

  • the information within an email.​

 

Alternative formats will depend on the nature of the content and what is reasonably practicable.

Third-party websites

This website may include links to third-party services such as LinkedIn.

I do not control the accessibility of external websites, platforms or content. Those services are responsible for their own accessibility arrangements.

As this is a private-sector website, complaints about accessibility will not follow the public-sector website monitoring process unless the relevant rules apply in a particular circumstance.

 

Nothing in this statement affects rights under applicable equality or consumer law, including duties relating to reasonable adjustments.

Review of this statement

This statement will be reviewed:

  • when significant website changes are made;

  • when new Wix applications or embedded content are added;

  • following an accessibility complaint; or

  • at least once every 12 months.
